Your Townsville Fishing Guide
Eddie Riddle
A successful fishing charter starts with local knowledge. Eddie Riddle has spent more than 40 years fishing Townsville and North Queensland waters, building an intimate understanding of the region’s estuaries, inshore grounds, reefs and bluewater fisheries.
More Than 40 Years Fishing Townsville
Eddie has been fishing Townsville and North Queensland waters since the mid-1980s, accumulating decades of hands-on experience across estuary, inshore and bluewater fishing. That experience isn’t just about knowing where fish have been caught before — it’s about understanding how tides, seasons, weather, water conditions and fish behaviour combine to influence where and how to fish on any particular day.
A Lifetime in the Fishing Industry
Eddie’s involvement in fishing extends well beyond operating Fish City Charters. Over the years he has worked across the recreational fishing industry as a fishing guide, writer and media presenter, giving him the opportunity to fish extensively, share his knowledge with others and remain closely connected with fishing in North Queensland.
Fishing Writer & Media
Eddie has written about fishing for many years and is a long-running fishing columnist for the Townsville Bulletin, sharing local fishing information, observations and experience with North Queensland anglers. He also produced and hosted the fishing television series Fish n 4 Wheels, which ran for five series and 65 episodes.
A Personal Approach to Guiding
Every angler is different. Some want to chase a particular species, some want to improve their lure fishing, and others simply want an enjoyable day on the water. Eddie keeps Fish City Charters deliberately small and personalised, adapting the fishing wherever possible to suit each group’s interests, experience and the conditions on the day.
Local Knowledge, Shared
Good guiding is about more than putting anglers in the right area. Eddie is happy to share the knowledge behind the fishing — from lure selection and presentation to reading tides, structure and fish behaviour — while keeping the day relaxed, practical and enjoyable.
