An element of luck is always handy when on any fishing charter and just a little bit might have helped guests visiting Townsville this week. Fishing was extremely tough and boating conditions tougher with 20-30 knot winds lashing the greater Townsville area.
Cleveland Bay waters were turned to mud and seas to foam in anything but protected waters.
Clients Ian, Dave and Col – all from Brisbane, had fished Townsville waters previously while on charter with Fish City Charters and knew they would have to be patient if they were to find fish in such atrocious conditions.
And patient they were finding barramundi and mangrove jack within sheltered waters within Townsville’s Cleveland Bay on Sunday before hitting the fishing jackpot with a fingermark bite this morning. A double hook-up was a highlight given the conditions and all 3 anglers were happy to slip a handful of fish to a bit better than 60cm into the icebox.
Ian says promises to have a word with the weather gods before his next trip.
Can’t wait to have you back and thanks again for fishing with Fish City Charters fellas!
Cheers Eddy. Always a delight going fishing with you. Never a dull moment even when the fish aren’t biting!
Thanks Ian. You, Col and Dave are great company. That wind was horrific and not any better this weekend with yet another Strong Wind Warning issued. Dave was unlucky not to stay tied to the one and only barra hooked. Those fingermark were certainly more welcome than usual with such conditions.
Thanks again for fishing with me.
Cheers Eddie
